March 25th - GP appointment... the shock

What I expected: To renew my prescription. To be given all-clear.

What I was told: 1 of the routine biopsies had found “atypical” cells.
I was being “Fast tracked” for a repeat Endoscopy (at the RUH) to find out more.

This news was like an emotional demolition ball passing straight through me.
I went home and cried with Claudia.

Endoscopy... the first

I wouldn't wish one of these on my worst enemy.

What they did: a 5 min look down and 3 routine biopsies taken.

What they found: An area of inflammation (Reflux Oesophagitus) recognised, caused by acid coming up from my stomach.

Early symptoms

My symptoms started in October as strong indigestion.
A visit to the GP resulted in 1 month’s medication.
Once medication finished, the symptoms returned within days.
At the next GP visit, i was advised to have an Endoscopy.

Hello...

I thought i'd start this blog as a way of letting you lovely folk know how things are going. Claudia and i have been overwhelmed by the support and prayers of friends and family.
This is likely to be a long journey, so please do keep in touch by calling/emailing us.

However if there's one thing this blog-thing can do, it can inform your thinking/praying on an ongoing basis (as long as i can keep it up to date)

I'll be describing what's happened so far ie: diagnosis/investigation timeline, then i'll update it as often as i can as treatment progresses. It will also be a nice opportunity to add bits and pieces of family goings on too.

Thanks for being there with us - xx
